Circulation Policy

Check Outs

You may check out up to 15 items at a time. Through the end of this year (2023), we are allowing unlimited checkouts on books.

You may check out all items for 2 weeks. The only exception is our telescope which only goes out for 1 week.

You may check out on a grown-up's library card:

  • 6 movies in DVD or Blu-ray format
  • 3 video games
  • 3 board games

Renewals

Items may be renewed once by phone, in person, online, or through the Aspen Lida app if no one else has requested the item.

InterLibrary Loan items generally cannot be renewed as the items do not belong to us or the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative (OCPLC), which includes Crestview, Destin, Mary Esther, Niceville, and Valparaiso. Interlibrary Loan items are on loan from another library outside Okaloosa County.

Games, overdue items, and items with holds (someone else is waiting for them) cannot be renewed.

No Late Fines

There are no fines for late items. If items are never returned, your account will be charged for the lost items.

Damaged Items

If an item you have checked out gets damaged or lost, please let us know. You will be charged the full price of the item. You have the option of replacing the item with an exact copy. Library card use will be blocked until the item is returned or replaced.

Returning Items

Most items can be picked up or dropped off at any of the OCPLC libraries. Most items can be returned in the book drop if the library is closed. We ask that board games not be placed in the book drop.
