Thanks to all those who joined us Sunday for the City of Fort Walton Beach's Fourth annual Mardi Gras Parade and downtown celebration.
Hundreds of people representing nearly 20 local organizations and businesses donned Mardi Gras costumes and made their way from First Street up Eglin Parkway and back down Perry Avenue. Along the parade route, they threw beads, cups, candy, and other Mardi Gras treats to the approximately 1,000 spectators who lined the streets.
Following the parade, many of those spectators filled Ferry Road SE for a block party with dancing and live music from Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe. The band kept toes tapping into the afternoon with traditional Louisiana music and Zzydeco versions of popular party songs like Mustang Sally.
“Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe were very entertaining; they always are,” said Fort Walton Beach Recreation Director Tiffiny Corcoran. “They have fun music and people just love them.”
