Neighborhood Clean-Up scheduled for Jan. 2-31

A Fort Walton Beach sanitation crew pick up large items during Neighborhood Clean-up month.

Want to get an early start on your spring cleaning? The City of Fort Walton Beach's sanitation department will be holding its bi-annual Neighborhood Clean-up from Jan. 2 to 31 for city residents.

Trash collection crews will be collecting unwanted household items like furniture, appliances, mattresses, and other items too large for normal trash collections.

Simply place the items on the curb (not in the street), away from fire hydrants or other above-ground utilities. Large items will be picked up on the same day as yard waste, but please keep the two piles separate. SEE MAP BELOW TO DETERMINE YOUR YARD WASTE PICK-UP DAY.

Items NOT accepted include construction and demolition debris, concrete, bricks, glass, tires, and hazardous materials.

Examples of hazardous materials include paints, pesticides, oil and oil filters, solvents, fluorescent bulbs, fire extinguishers and computer monitors. Information on how Okaloosa County residents can dispose of hazardous materials for free can be found at  https://myokaloosa.com/pw/environmental/hazardous-waste.

More detailed information on The City of Fort Walton Beach’s Residential Services and Neighborhood Clean-up can be found at https://www.fwb.org/285/Residential-Services.
