The City of Fort Walton Beach City Council took the following actions during Tuesday night's regularly scheduled meeting.

6. CONSENT AGENDA

Item 6.4:  Authorization to Waive Competitive Bidding Process for Library Mural Project

Requests City Council authorization to waive the competitive bidding process for the Library mural project.    RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

Item 6.5:  Fiscal Year 2022-23 CDBG Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER)

Recommends City Council approval of the FY 2022-23 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).   RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

8. RESOLUTIONS

Item 8.1:  2023-22 Amending Resolution 2015-13 Rules of Procedure for City Council Meetings

Recommends City Council discussion and direction of Resolution 2023-22 Amending Resolution 2015-13 Rules of Procedure for City Council Meetings. RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

9. ORDINANCES-FIRST READING

Item 9.1:   2131 Ordinance to Rezone 222 Girard Ave NW from R-1E to R-1

Recommends City Council adoption of Ordinance No. 2131 to rezone property located at 222 Girard Avenue NW from R-1E (Single Family Residential Estate) to R-1 (Single Family Residential). RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

10. ORDINANCES-SECOND READING

Item 10.1:   2130 Ordinance Amending the Fire Fighters Retirement Fund

Recommends City Council adoption of Ordinance No. 2130 to amend the City of Fort Walton Beach Municipal Firefighters’ Pension Trust by extending the terms of the Board Member from the current 2-year terms to 4-year terms.  RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

11. APPOINTMENTS

Item 11.1:  Firefighters' Retirement Fund Board Appointments

Motion to postpone the Firefighters’ Retirement Fund Board appointments until a later date. RESULT: Passed 7-0

 

12. ACTION-DIRECTION-DISCUSSION

Item 12.1:  Guidance on Workforce Housing Incentive Funding

Motion to move item 12.1 to a future workshop to be scheduled in January. RESULT: Passed 7-0

Item 12.2:  Council Discussion on Developing a Water Ferry System

Motion to have city Attorney and city staff work with Okaloosa County to bring back a concept that just includes the county’s Okaloosa Island and the Fort Walton Beach Landing as spaces to drop and pick up people. RESULT: Passed 7-0

Item 12.3:  Award of Purchase of Vehicles for the FWB Police Department

Recommends City Council authorization to award the purchase of five (5) vehicles for the Police Department through the Florida Sheriff’s Association Annual Contract and a light & siren package from Dana Safety Supply in the amount of $284,392.11. RESULT: Passed 7-0

Item 12.4:  Councilman David Schmidt made a motion to hire new police officers to cut down on vagrancy downtown. RESULT: Passed 7-0
