Museum - Heritage Park & Cultural Center

We are an educational and cultural institution of long-standing traditions. It is our mission to preserve, interpret and present the prehistory and history of the Fort Walton Beach community and the Northwest Florida area from 12,000 B.C. through the 1950s. We serve students, citizens, and visitors through exhibits, educational programs, publications, and special events.

Heritage Park and Cultural Center include the Indian Temple Mound Museum, Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, Fort Walton Temple Mound, and the Civil War Exhibit Building. Admission for all the museum buildings is purchased inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum.

Admission and Hours

  • Adults (18+): $5 + Tax

  • Seniors (55+): $4.50 + Tax

  • Military (w/ID): $4.50 + Tax

  • Children (4-17):$3 + Tax

  • Children (3 and under) = Free

  • The Indian Temple Mound Museum is open 10:00 am-3:00 pm, Tuesday-Saturday

  • The Historic Buildings (Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, and Civil War Exhibit Building) are open 10:30 am-2:30 pm, Tuesday-Saturday.

  • Museums are closed on Sundays, Mondays, and all major holidays. Admission for all the museum buildings is purchased inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum. The last admission is sold 15 minutes prior to close.

  • Heritage Park and Cultural Center is located at 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. The outdoor museum grounds are open from approximately sun up to sun down. The museum hours are listed. The museum is self-guided and visitors proceed at their own pace. The Historic Buildings (Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, and Civil War Exhibits) are located on the same property as the Indian Temple Mound Museum.
