Beginning the morning of Wednesday, September 17, 2014, weather permitting, the City of Fort Walton Beach will begin a water quality construction project at the end of Burnette Avenue NW. We will be constructing a rain garden inside the gravel cul-de-sac located at the north end of the street. The garden construction will consist of three major components; excavation, installation, and maintenance. We will remove and excavate the existing gravel, install new fill material, new plants, and construct a small drainage control structure with corresponding conveyance pipe. The project is designed to improve water quality through the introduction of vegetation and provide water quantity support through the installation of the control structure, depressed area, and conveyance pipe. Once the installation is complete we will maintain the area as needed.
The work is expected to take approximately two (2) weeks and we request that all cars be removed from the right of way between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We will work with residents to accommodate your needs throughout the project. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (850) 833-9613. Thank you for your cooperation.
