Art Display Guidelines

Art Display Guidelines

1) The Fort Walton Beach Public Library has exhibit space available to residents of the local area wishing to display their art and collections on a space available basis.

2) The library determines the terms and conditions under which artwork will be accepted and displayed, the length of time it will be exhibited, placement, labeling, etc.

3) Exhibitors display at the discretion of the Library Director. The library reserves the right to refuse potential exhibitors without cause. A sample of the works must be presented to the library director before the exhibit is permitted.

4) While the library supports free expression in all its forms, the City of Fort Walton Beach and the Library Director reserve the right to refuse a display if the work does not support the educational mission of the library as a public space, frequented by people of all ages and sensibilities.

5) Display of items does not in any way constitute support by the library or City of Fort Walton Beach of any group’s ideas or beliefs.

6) The library reserves the right to cut short an exhibit because of a library event, a unique exhibition opportunity, or unexpected conditions.

7) Displays will be limited to one month unless otherwise arranged.

8) Art will be displayed on existing equipment unless otherwise arranged. Nothing will be attached to library walls or furniture.

9) Exhibiters are responsible for setup and removal of items at times previously approved by the Adult Services Librarian.

10) The library will not act as a selling agent for works of art. No prices will be displayed.

11) Any publicity about the exhibit must be cleared by the Adult Services Librarian.

12) Exhibitors who must leave town during the exhibition will notify the Adult Services Librarian of that fact.

13) As the library is an open public space, the library will not be held responsible for loss, theft, or damage of items on display.
