Comprehensive Plan

The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to preserve and enhance the public health, safety and welfare through the management of growth, provision of adequate public services and the protection of natural resources.

The Comprehensive Plan contains a Future Land Use Element, Housing Element, Conservation Element, Coastal Management Element, Transportation Element, Recreation and Open Space Element, Infrastructure Element, and an Intergovernmental Coordination Element.

The City of Fort Walton Beach adopted its 2011-2021 Comprehensive Plan on February 8, 2011. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity found the Plan in compliance on March 28, 2011, causing the Plan to have an effective date of April 18, 2011.
