Comprehensive Plan

The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to preserve and enhance public health, safety, and welfare through the management of growth, the provision of adequate public services, and the protection of natural resources.

The Comprehensive Plan contains a Future Land Use Element, Transportation Element, Housing Element, Infrastructure Element, Conservation Element, Coastal Management Element, Capital Improvements Element, Economic Development Element, Public School Facilities Element, Recreation and Open Space Element, and Intergovernmental Coordination Element.

The City of Fort Walton Beach adopted its 2019-2029 Comprehensive Plan on May 21, 2019. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity found the Plan in compliance on July 24, 2019, causing the Plan to have an effective date of July 24, 2019.
