Volunteers Needed for City Board/Agency Vacancies

Code Enforcement Board                   1 position vacant
Local Planning Agency                       2 positions vacant

The Local Planning Agency acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council. They provide input  on re-zonings and development regulations, as well as monitoring the implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. There are seven members who serve four-year terms and two alternates who do not have term limits.  To serve, you must be City of Fort Walton Beach resident for one (1) year & be a REGISTERED voter. Members are limited to serving two successive terms. Currently this board meets the first (1st) Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 107 Miracle Strip Parkway SW. We encourage you to attend meetings or read the archived minutes to learn more about the Local Planning Agency.


The Code Enforcement Board enforces the provisions of the City’s Codes and Ordinances (i.e. building maintenance, grass height, signage). This board has the authority to impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties. The powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Code Enforcement Board shall comply with the requirements set forth in Chapter 162, Part I, of the Florida Statues. There are seven members who are appointed to three-year terms and two alternates who do not have term limits.  To serve, you must be a City of Fort Walton Beach resident for one (1) year & be a REGISTERED voter. Members are limited to two (2) successive terms. Currently the board meets the second (2nd) Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 107 Miracle Strip Parkway SW.
